As a learner at Mafikeng High School you are expected to:

​

  • accept that the main reason for being in school is to learn and develop academically, socially and culturally;

  • adhere to school rules;

  • respect the legitimacy and authority of teachers;

  • participate in Learner Representative Councils (LRCs) to safeguard your interests;

  • show respect to other learners and not to discriminate; and

  • avoid anti-social behaviour like theft, vandalism, assault, sexual harassment, alcohol and drug abuse, as well as other activities that disrupt the learning process.

Teachers

Information for Educators

​

Educators play a significant role in the upliftment and transformation of our society. They bear the weight and responsibility of teaching, and, apart from parents, are the main source of knowledge and values for children.

As an Educator, you are expected to:

​

  • acknowledge the noble calling of your profession to educate and train the learners of our country;

  • acknowledge that the attitude, dedication, self-discipline, ideals, training and conduct of the teaching profession determine the quality of education in this country;

  • acknowledge, uphold and promote basic human rights, as embodied in the Constitution of South Africa;

  • commit yourself therefore to do all within your power, in the exercising of your professional duties, to act in accordance with the ideals of your profession, as expressed in the SACE Code of Professioanl Ethics; and

  • act in a proper and becoming way such that your behaviour does not bring the teaching profession into disrepute.

As a PARENT, I promise to:

​

  • involve myself actively in the activities of the school, including school governance structures;

  • have regular discussions with my children about general school matters;

  • cultivate a healthy, open and cooperative relationship with my children’s teachers;

  • create a home environment that is conducive to studying;

  • assist in the protection of educational resources such as textbooks, chairs, tables and other objects; and

  • to contribute, within my means, the necessary resources to the schooling of my children.
